We are currently seeking a General Legal Assistant, who in an entry level position will primarily assist our Land Department, and who will slowly learn the steps of a full-cycle residential conveyancing matter working within our dedicated 6-member department.
While we are not able to offer any work-from-home arrangements for this full-time position in our Chilliwack office, we offer modern aesthetic workspaces with sit-stand desks. We can also offer an attractive and competitive compensation package, inclusive of a Group RRSP matching program available after one-year of employment.
Primary responsibilities will include:
• Attending to post-closing items such as holdback releases and mortgage discharges;
• Assisting with preparing and organizing reporting packages for clients and lenders;
• Following up on outstanding mortgage instructions, payout statements, insurance binders, etc. as required;
• Contacting clients and other offices to verify account numbers and/or payment instructions prior to fund transfers or deposits;
• Returning any original documents (Records Books, Powers of Attorney, Marriage Certificates, etc.) that were held temporarily;
• Order title searches, tax certificates, strata documents and other due diligence searches as required;
• Provide coverage for bank runs, file opening, collecting client information and intakes;
• Organizing, scanning and saving documents and correspondence in the electronic file.
The successful candidate will have meticulous attention to detail, perhaps some post-secondary education (like an Applied Business Technology Certificate), possess the ability to work in a team-oriented environment, and possess very strong computer skills as we work towards increasingly digital and paperless practices.
While we appreciate all applications, only those experienced applicants who are considered will be contacted.
