Live-in Caregiver (Personal Support Worker) - LAN04ML (Langley)

We are currently recruiting for a Live-in Personal Support Worker to assist our male client with a brain injury, to provide personal care and assistance with all activities of daily living.

Our client used to enjoy traveling and staying active. He also loves watching movies and would appreciate a caregiver who shares these interests for engaging conversations.

The ideal caregiver is someone who is patient, positive, has strong communication skills and is willing to learn.

The caregiver will have their own bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen. Groceries will be provided along with some meals, such as dinner.

Location: Langley (Near Steele Park)

Shifts and Hours:

Live-In position - 3 days per week / 12 days per month
Days: Monday to Wednesday or Tuesday to Thursday
9 AM start time
Availability to take on extra shifts and be flexible is an asset

Compensation

$3,000 to $3,200 per month, dependent on experience

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

Daily personal care, including sponge baths, grooming, bowel care, and catheter care
Assisting with a range of motion exercises
Assisting with Hoyer lift transfers
Preparing meals and providing feeding assistance
Performing light housekeeping duties
Driving the client's handicap van for community outings, such as trips to Starbucks and the cinema
OVERNIGHT DUTIES:
Normally sleeps through the night
May be woken up by the client a couple of times during the night but it is generally just to check on him to assist with repositioning

Required Qualifications:

Willingness to learn
Mental Health / Brain Injury Experience, an asset
Strong communication skills
A class 5 Driver's license is required to drive client's accessible vehicle
Must be comfortable working in an environment with dogs
Must be comfortable cooking meals
Caregiver must be a non-smoker
Physically fit for transferring and supporting the client
Previous caregiving experience is required
Fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including boosters
