We have an electric hospital bed in great condition. We bought it from someone in Vancouver 6 years ago. It is still in great shape. The back and leg part go up and down. And the whole bed can go up and down. Some WD40 would be good for the squeaking!
The remote is glued to the headboard. Sorry! We needed it to not fall all over the place. My mom was the one on the bed and did not operate it. We did.
There are guard rails on both sides.
We started with an inflatable air mattress hooked up to an alternating air-pump but our cat punctured the mattress! We still have the pump if you're interested in that. ($50)
We switched to two foam mats, one with the egg carton pattern, on top of the mattress that comes with the bed. It's very comfortable. I had to wean myself off taking naps on it so that I could part with it!
We have 5 sets of twin sheets that we can include with the bed if you're interested.
The bed is upstairs in our house. There's a wall opposite the stairs at the bottom and kind of close. There's also a stair chair to get past on the stairs. The bed was brought up after the stairlift was installed, so it is possible to get the bed down.
I don't like sharing these obstacles already but it helps to know as early as possible if you need extra help to come collect the bed! My dad and I do not have the means to deliver or bring the bed downstairs.
We also have
-a basic wheelchair
-6 foot metal wheelchair ramp
-a manual lift with a sling- doesn't require much muscle
-an electric/recharged battery powered lift with a nylon 'basket' sling (32"x 48")
