I never plug into a power pedestal unless I have checked it first with the tester, and if it passes then I hook up and use the surge protector. If it doesn't pass the test, then I either report it to the park manager, or pick a different site.
The simplicity of this set is a real benefit and it does not take very much room to pack.
RV's are expensive and it's good to have peace of mind for your equipment and your family.
This is a great product at a very good price. Instead of $92.00 plus tax I am letting the kit go for $30.00
