These are a plate block of four Canadian Forests $.39 stamps August 7th, 1990
Of Canada's eight significant forest regions, four are being commemorated. The Boreal, comprising 75 per cent of Canada's forests, is a highly coniferous region stretching from Newfoundland to the Yukon. The Acadian, which is concentrated in the Maritimes, is characterized by its red spruce. The Great Lakes/St. Lawrence forest region, extending inland from those bodies of water, is known for its eastern white pine but contains a wide variety of species. Along Canada's Pacific coast and in the Queen Charlotte Islands, the Coast Forest boasts such giants as the Douglas fir and western red cedar and also includes a few deciduous trees in limited distribution.
