The bike has both front and back disc brakes. These are high-end quality components. Disc brakes offer the following improvements
1. They will not fade on long downhills
2. They will still provide excellent braking in wet or muddy conditions.
3. Disc brakes can also be feathered for more precise braking and will not lock up as traditional V-brakes will.
4. They require little maintenance and will outlast many rubber V-brake pads.
The bike features high-end Components. The derailleur is a SHIMANO ALIVIO component that provides for instant and precise shifts in each gear. A top-quality Shimano ALIVIO will keep its tune and the bike will not need constant $79 tune-ups. The shifters are Shimano EZ FIRE twin trigger shifters. The bike shifts instantly into each gear. The top lever shifts the bike up a gear, and the bottom lever shifts the bike down a gear. The bike has a super low 1st gear to conquer any mountain and a high 24th gear for effortless pedalling on the flats.
The bike features lightweight double-walled aluminum 26-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. Double-walled aluminum rims are much stronger than regular aluminum rims and also lighter. The bike also features stainless steel spokes. Stainless steel spokes provide the following improvements.
1. They will never rust. If a wheel ever needs straightening the stainless steel spokes will not break due to rust as regular spokes when adjusted often, resulting in a costly repair.
2. Stainless steel spokes are much stronger than regular steel spokes and can often withstand hitting a curb without bending the wheel.
3. Stainless steel spokes are shiny and smooth, resulting in little debris sticking to them, and the wheels always looking shiny. The bike features all-terrain tires suitable for off-road or pavement. On pavement, the tires are very quiet and smooth.
The Rocky Mountain has aluminum ROX SHOX shocks that will smooth out any terrain. These are high-end shocks that will provide consistent dampening even under the most extreme terrain. Aluminum shocks are much lighter than chrome or painted black shocks, and will also never rust. .
The bike has always been stored inside and is still in showroom condition as it was seldom used. It was just tuned, and looks, rides, shifts, and brakes as new.
