This is a NORCO Stepthrough 24-speed high-end bike that has high-end name-brand components. The bike is a stepthrough as it has a very low top bar that is particularly convenient when mounting or dismounting the bike. Just lift your leg a bit and stepthrough. You will not find any no-name generic Chinese parts on a NORCO bike. NORCO bikes are quality bikes only sold at Norco bike dealerships.
The NORCO Citadel is truly a dual-purpose bike designed to be ridden on the road or off-road. The components used on this NORCO COMFORT bike are the same components used on their off-road mountain bikes, designed for extreme environments.
The NORCO Comfort 24-speed bike uses a very special handlebar stem that allows for two major adjustments. The height of the stem can be raised or lowered by about 5 inches, and the angle of the handlebar support stem is on a special gear system that will allow about another 7 inches of adjustment, for a total adjustment of about 12 inches. This allows the bike to be custom fit to your riding style or height. All adjustments can be made in seconds. If you have a bad back or desire to ride sitting upright this is one of the most comfortable bikes you will ride. If you are commuting and prefer a lower profile to cut the wind, then the handlebars can be lowered about 12 inches. If you are riding off-road, you will want to lower the bars also to keep more weight on the front wheel as you are climbing steep hills.
The bike features a very special shock absorber seat post with a very long seat post to accommodate various heights of riders. The seat post damper or shock can be custom set depending on your weight or ride preference. This feature really makes for a comfy ride as it absorbs any small or large imperfections in the road. It also dampens or cushions the ride when used off-road.
The bike seat is wider than a regular bike seat and features several different thicknesses of foam and gel and is supported on two large shock absorbing rubber balls. It is super comfortable. The bike seat is also a suspension seat post that cushions the ride and prevents any jarring to the spine. It is also adjustable to the person's weight or riding preference.
The 14.5 inch frame (Small)of the bike is 6061 Aluminum, which makes for a very light bike yet very strong and rigid. This is what they use in Airplane frames. The lightweight frame makes the bike very responsive for handling as well as easy to pedal as the bike is very light. It is also easier to load and unload unto a bike carrier. As an added bonus for the west coast is it will never rust when scratched as Aluminum does not rust.
The 26-inch Wheels are lightweight aluminum. They are extremely light yet very durable as they will never rust. Chrome wheels are heavy and will rust. The lighter the wheel, the easier it is to pedal. The Spokes are also Stainless steel and will never rust. This is actually important on a bike, as
1. Regular spokes will rust at the nipple and often the spoke will break when adjusting or truing a wheel resulting in a costy repair. Most department store bikes are steel and breaking a spoke can be expensive when the wheels and gears have to be disassembled to install a new spoke.
2. Stainless steel spokes will keep their shine and always look good
3. Stainless steel spokes are much stronger than regulalr steel spokes, and will keep the wheel from beinding if an object or curb is hit
The 26-inch tires are smooth on pavement and quiet. The middle part of the tire is raised which allows the bike to glide effortlessly along with little rolling resistance on the pavement. On trails or off-road, the surrounding tread provides for excellent traction.
The Norco is a 24 Speed. The 24-speeds will give you a super low gear for climbing any hill as well as a very high overdrive gear for effortlessly cruising on the flats as opposed to a traditional 21 speed. The Shimon Rapid shift shifters shift instantly and quietly into each gear. There is a very readable indicator also that clearly shows what gear you are in.
The Norco Features a quality Shimano ALTUS derailleur. This Shimano ALTUS has a larger bottom sprocket that ensures the chain engages the gears precisely and prevents chain wear and noisy inaccurate shifts. A quality Shimano ALTUS derailleur will also not require constant $79 bike tune-ups.
The axles are not generic axles but quality aluminum axles with lifetime bearings. Cheaper bikes will use steel axles painted black or chromed, that will corrode both on the outside and inside where the bearings are.
The brakes are front and back TEKTRO. They provide superior stopping power in wet or dry conditions.
The Front shocks are SR Suntour and are fully adjustable. These are the same shocks used on TREKS and GIANT bikes. Shocks make an incredible comfort difference on the ride. Shocks also protect the rider from potential injury by preventing the bike from Instantly rebounding when an object or curb is hit. The dampening of the shock will also protect the wheel from being damaged.
The handle grips are ergonomically designed so they will support your palm when riding. Really makes a difference as you do not have to wrap your hand around the handgrip.
The pedal or crank arms are aluminum, not plastic painted to look like metal. The plastic pedals crack easily and can actually bend in the sunlight.
The bike still looks, shifts, brakes, and rides as new, as it has only been ridden a few times.
Come by and take a quality Norco Comfort bike for a ride and you will experience what a difference a high-end bike makes when you are able to sit upright. Buying a quality Norco will also mean you will not be constantly needing bike tune-ups and repairs that get costly.
